ZERAF is among the 57 selected cutting-edge technology projects of the European Innovation Council Pathfinder Open call launched under the Horizon Europe programme.

The EIC, established by the European Commission in 2021, has a mission to identify, develop and scale up breakthrough technologies and game changing innovations. The funding is organised into three main schemes: one of these is the EIC Pathfinder which focuses on advanced research to develop the scientific basis to underpin breakthrough technologies. Technologies such as those to be developed by our project.
ZERAF proposes a disruptive facade concept, the ZERo-carbon building enabler Adaptive opaque Facade (ZERAF), to get a huge decrease in the operational energy demand, while reducing the environmental impact of new and existing buildings through novel materials.
This project is coordinated by Eurac Research and will have as partners Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, INDRESMAT SL, Ingpuls Smart Shadings (Spin-Off Ingpuls GmbH) and Active Insulation System B.V.
